God's Calling

God's calling for each one of His children is unique, specific, irrevocable.

"And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ— from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love." (Ephesians 4:11-16, NKJV)

When God personally calls you into a particular aspect of ministry, He never changes that specific calling throughout your life. He may give you different assignments throughout your life but never a different calling. If He has equipped you and called you to be an evangelist, you will always be an evangelist. For example, Billy Graham is probably the most well-known evangelist in this world. He traveled, spoke, and preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world for many decades. He founded the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association which consists of television, radio, film productions; the Billy Graham Library; as well as the Rapid Response team. As He got older, He didn't travel and preach as much but He was still an evangelist. He wrote and published books including his memoir.

Therefore, know and remember that your specific calling never changes but your assignments will vary throughout your life in this world.

Write the Vision

Then the Lord answered me and said:

"Write the vision
And make it plain on tablets,
That he may run who reads it.
For the vision is yet for an appointed time;
But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.
Though it tarries, wait for it;
Because it will surely come,
It will not tarry."

What's the vision God has given you?

My vision consists of making disciples of all nations; preaching the Gospel; proclaiming the Good News to the poor; setting the captives free.

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. (Matthew 28:18-20, NKJV)

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,
Because the Lord has anointed Me
To preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives,
And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord,
And the day of vengeance of our God;
To comfort all who mourn,
To console those who mourn in Zion,
To give them beauty for ashes,
The oil of joy for mourning,
The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;
That they may be called trees of righteousness,
The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”

What exactly does it involve for you?

It involves speaking, teaching, preaching God's word all over the world whether in person and/or on-line via social media pages, blogs, podcasts, and other media. I have so far written and published 3 prayer journals which are located both on Amazon and CreateSpace eStore. I also have 3 digital versions of the prayer journals available through my Etsy shop and PayHip. I have written numerous articles, notes, blog posts which are available through LinkedIn's Pulse, Facebook's Notes, this In Spirit and In Truth blog, and the Clothed in His Righteousness blog.

I am available for speaking engagements at conferences, seminars, churches, retreats, luncheons. I am also available for leading, facilitating, teaching Bible studies at your church or in your home. Additionally, I am available for writing opportunities whether as a contributor, author, blogger.

Mind Your Business

"Idle hands are the devil's workshop."  Perhaps, you have heard that particular saying before.  Though it is not found in scripture, there is truth found in the statement.  The Apostle Paul warned believers specifically in the book of 2 Thessalonians about idleness.

He begins, "Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from any brother who is walking in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us." (2 Thessalonians 3:6, ESV)

There are reasons for his warning.  For one, no person should be lazy when it comes to the Lord's work.  However, the devil is also more able to tempt people when they are not staying productive within the Kingdom of God.  So, idle hands can be the way the devil uses them.  In addition, God does not want any person to be a burden on any one person.  We all need to be responsible for our individual selves.  God does not want any person to be a stumbling block for anyone else, nor does he want any person to be a hindrance to the true Gospel.  (See Isaiah 53; John 19; Romans 14:13; 2 Thessalonians 3:7-10)   

Unfortunately, there are members within the body of Christ today who are too idle.  Consequently, the enemy uses them.  They gossip, meddle, and more because they are not truly being productive.  Therefore, they are busy bodies in other people's lives.  

The Apostle Paul heard about this same issue within the church at Thessalonica.

"For we hear that some among you walk in idleness, not busy at work, but busybodies."  (2 Thessalonians 3:11, ESV)

He knew and understood the reason there were some people who were being busy bodies.  At the same time, he encouraged the members of the church.

"Now such persons we command and encourage in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work quietly and to earn their own living."  (2 Thessalonians 3:12, ESV)

He goes on to say, "As for you, brothers, do not grow weary in doing good.  If anyone does not obey what we say in this letter, take note of that person, and have nothing to do with him, that he may be ashamed.  Do not regard him as an enemy, but warn him as a brother."  (2 Thessalonians 3:13-15, ESV)

The above song lyrics of the old hymn, Tell Me the Story of Jesus, has been on my heart and mind for some time now. It has really been resonating with me lately.

I have been reminded that everybody in this world has a story to tell others. Most importantly, every believer of Jesus Christ has a story to tell other people in this world. What is the reason?

Everybody has been through challenges, obstacles, hardships, and trials in life. (See James 1:2-4) What is most important though is this... Who got them through those difficulties? What brought them out on the other side of those downfalls? How did they come out of those so-called pits in life?

Whether a person has yet accepted Him into their hearts and lives or not, it was Jesus---the name above all names. (See Romans 10:9-10) He is the author and finisher of our faith. (See Hebrews 12:1-2) He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end---who is, who was, and who is to come. (See Revelation 1:8, 22:13)

Jesus has a story. Briefly, His story is the true Gospel---His death, burial, and resurrection. (See Isaiah 53; Matthew 26-28; John 3:16-17, 19:30; Romans 10:9-10) Everyone has a story. He wants all of us to share our stories with others. Most importantly, He desires that we tell His story.

What is His story in your life? How has He loved you? What has He done for you? How has He changed you? Additionally, the list goes on... Therefore, I encourage you and challenge you today and every day thereafter. Share your story and tell people the story of Jesus.

Faith: A Brief Study

What is faith? Faith is a belief in someone or something. When people believe or have faith, they show it by their actions. They also speak it out. Someone may say, “I believe in you. I have faith in you.”

The faith that I am writing about now is faith in God…faith in Jesus Christ. How do we acquire faith in Jesus and ultimately in God? “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.” (Romans 10:17, NIV) Therefore, I will share more of the word of God with you. May your ears, eyes, and hearts be open to hear, see, and understand what God would have you hear, see, and understand now.

Are you familiar with the true Gospel or the “Good News”? The Apostle Paul talks about the “Good News” in 1 Corinthians 15. Before I go on though, 1 Corinthians is a written letter from Paul and Sosthenes to the members of God’s church in Corinth. Look at Paul’s explanation of the “Good News”. (1 Corinthians 15:3-8) That is the “Good News” in a nutshell so to speak. Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, NIV) Look also at John 3:17-18. In Isaiah 53, the prophet Isaiah spoke about Jesus…the Son of God. (Isaiah 53) It was God’s plan for His Son, Jesus to be born to the virgin, Mary, and His earthly father, Joseph in the little town of Bethlehem thousands of years ago. (Matthew 1:18-25) It was God’s plan for Jesus to be baptized by John the Baptist. (Matthew 3:13-17) It was part of God’s plan for Jesus to be tempted in the wilderness for 40 days and 40 nights. (Matthew 4:1-11) Look specifically at Matthew 4:1 and 4:11 now. It was part of God’s plan for Jesus to go into ministry after He endured and resisted all of the temptation in the wilderness. God had been preparing His Son, Jesus, for ministry for some time. He knew that Jesus would pass all of His tests. God knew that His Son would learn all of His lessons. The Father knew His Son, and God had faith in Jesus. It was part of God’s plan for Jesus to be arrested. (Matthew 26:47-56) It was part of God’s plan for His Son to be charged with a crime. (Matthew 26:57-68) It was part of God’s plan for Jesus to be sentenced to death. (Matthew 27:1-10) Look specifically at verses 1 through 4 at this time. It was God’s plan for Jesus to suffer under the rule of Pontius Pilate. (Matthew 27:11-26) Look now at verse 26. Then, take another look at Isaiah 53 for a minute and look at verse 10. It was part of God’s plan for His Son to be mocked by soldiers. (Matthew 27:27-31) It was God’s plan for Jesus to be nailed to a cross. (Matthew 27:32-44) It was God’s plan for His Son to die for us…for you and for me. (Matthew 27:45-56) It was God’s plan for Jesus to be buried and placed in a tomb. (Matthew 27:57-61) It was God’s plan for His Son to rise from the dead. (Matthew 28:1-10) Look back at Isaiah 53 a minute…specifically verse 11. God was with Jesus throughout everything. He was with Him every step of the way. He had a purpose and plan for Jesus.

Just like Jesus, we can be assured that God our Father is always with us. He will never leave us or forsake us. (Deuteronomy 31:6, 8) We can also be assured that He has a purpose and plan for us. (Jeremiah 29:11) He works everything out for our good, His purpose, and His glory just like He did for Jesus. (Romans 8:28) We can trust God our Father. Have faith in God! (Mark 11:22-24) When you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, you will be saved eternally. (Romans 10:9-11)  Now, that is great news!
