What if I told you that God is not in control? Too many members within the body of Christ think and say that God is in control. Being 'in control' means that a person actually makes people act against their will whether by domination, restraint, or force. That line of thinking and speaking contradicts His character and His word though.
He gave all people dominion over the whole earth including the creatures and land (See Genesis 1:26). Therefore, He put all people in charge so to speak. He also gave every person a choice or "free will" dating way back to the Garden of Eden, when both Adam and Eve chose to sin against Almighty God --- the Creator of the universe (Read Genesis 1-3).
Of course, He uses every person's "free will" or choices altogether for His purpose in the earth. It's known as His sovereignty which is totally different than Him being in control of everyone and everything. His children are led by His spirit within them (See Romans 8:14). As they surrender, submit, obey Him; He uses them and their choices according to His will for them. And, we know that all things work for the good of those who love Him which are called according to His purpose (See Romans 8:28).

Listening to Godly Counsel
God prepares and trains many different people along their unique paths for
His specific purpose and plan. Unfortunately, He normally raises them up
through various hardships, trials, challenges, obstacles, and more (See James 1:2-4). David and Joseph are only a couple of
examples of the way God promoted and increased them over their lifetime (Read Genesis 37-50; 1 Samuel 16-17).
It does not necessarily have to be that way though. People do not have to learn everything for themselves the hard way.
Once Jesus was released into His full-time ministry, He was usually only able to help those people who either personally asked for His assistance and/or personally came to Him for assistance. Of course, there was the instance of the woman at the well but she was a rare exception (See John 4:1-26, 39-42). She did not ask Him and/or personally come to Him at first. Nine times out of ten people normally sought Him out and asked for His help.
That goes without saying for all of God's children. We are only able to truly help those who are receptive to us whom God has placed in our paths. They either need to personally ask for our help and/or personally come to us.
There have been more people than I care to think about or count on my hands that have not been receptive to me for one reason or another. I have come to realize it more over the last several years that it is their problem and not mine though. I cannot make people believe and receive the truth when I speak the truth in love to them (See Ephesians 4:15). I cannot force them to make righteous choices---choices that line up with God's word, His ways, His perfect will, and His spirit within them (See Isaiah 55:8-9; Matthew 4:4; Romans 12:2).
It is really a shame that so many people prefer to learn for themselves the hard way instead of being receptive and learning from people like me who have already gained the wisdom, knowledge, insight, clarity through their own life experiences and faith journeys.
However, I have been reminded that "...fools despise wisdom and instruction (Proverbs 1:7, NIV)."
"Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed." (Proverbs 15:22, NIV)
Therefore, it behooves people to not only seek out Godly counsel but actually listen and heed the wise counsel.

Honoring God With Our Bodies
Read Genesis 39:6-12.
Did you notice? Joseph was a very morally upright man. He made righteous choices in the midst of the advances from another man's wife. He didn't cave into temptation. He obeyed God!
God instructs all of His children to "Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body." (1 Corinthians 6:18, NIV)
Not only do you sin against your own body but you also sin against God [if you have accepted Him into your heart and life]. Depending on the situation, you sin against others as well. For example: If Joseph had given into the temptation; he would have sinned against Potiphar, Potiphar's wife, and God.
However, Joseph got out of there. He knew what was right in the situation with Potiphar's wife. Every born-again believer knows the right thing to do in any similar situation. They must take action though just like Joseph did in his situation.
Read Genesis 39:13-23.
Unfortunately, Potiphar's wife wasn't as honorable as Joseph in this case. She lied to her husband about the situation with Joseph. She framed Joseph even though he hadn't done anything wrong. Of course, Potiphar believed his wife's lies. What spouse wouldn't believe their own spouse over someone else! The result: Potiphar took Joseph and put him prison.
Look at v 21. Though, Joseph was initially mistreated and betrayed by Potiphar's wife and Potiphar himself..."the Lord was with him; He showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden." (Genesis 39:21, NIV)
Now, look back at Genesis 39:20-23.
Isn't that awesome?!?! It not only shows God's unconditional love, kindness, and goodness to Joseph but even when everything was going in the wrong direction for him---God still took care of him. Joseph was obedient to God. He made wise choices in the midst of a terrible circumstance. God looked out for him though.
God is faithful! And, Joseph honored God by being obedient and making right choices. Therefore, Joseph ultimately honored God in everything that he said and did with his body. (Colossians 3:17) As Children of God, let's also choose to honor God with our bodies in every way.
[This story is only one prime example from God's word about His provision and blessings for our obedience.]

Let Jesus Out!
I have observed members of the body of Jesus Christ quenching the Spirit of God in their lives. (1 Thessalonians 5:19) I have also experienced the effects of it myself because of others' poor choices. Perhaps, you also have observed it and experienced it yourself. After all, we each affect one another when we are a part of the body of Christ. (1 Corinthians 12:26)
Because believers do not obey God's word, they are not exhibiting the fruit of the Spirit. (Galatians 5:22-23) They are not becoming more like Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, some Christians are becoming less like Him.
They choose to give into the flesh or the old sinful nature. It's a shame. It's disturbing. It's sad. Perhaps, they don't realize that they are a new creation. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Most of all, it's disobedient to God and His word. It dishonors Him and does not glorify Him at all. One of the main purposes is for His children to honor and glorify Him. (1 Corinthians 6:20; 1 Timothy 1:17)
I want to say to those people within the body, "Let Jesus Out!" Let Him live in and through you. (Romans 6:1-14) Allow Him to change you from the inside out.
Of course, it takes a daily renewal of the mind for all believers to experience the transformation. (Romans 12:2) We cannot be slack about being true followers and disciples of Jesus Christ. It takes time, effort, communication, and an on-going relationship with Him.
The more we spend time with Him---communing with Him---the more we will look and act like Him. Make sure that you have let Jesus into your heart and life. (Romans 10:9-10) Then, you can definitely "Let Jesus Out!"

Speaking Life
Have you ever thought about your words? Do you know that your words affect you? Do you know that your words also affect other people? Actually, your words affect your own world or your reality.
"The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit." (Proverbs 18:21)
We have two choices. First, we can choose good and positive words that bring life to us. By life, I mean good and positive results in our lives.
On the other hand, we also have the choice of using poor and negative words that ultimately bring death to us. In this case, I mean bad and negative results in our lives.
"This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live..." (Deut 30:19)
Our Father tells us to choose life, because He wants the best for us. He also means in our choices of words.
In the book of James, we read about taming the tongue or guarding our mouths.
"We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check." (James 3:2)
James compares our mouths to that of animals specifically horses.
"When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal." (James 3:3)
In just the next verse, ships are compared to our bodies.
"Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go." (James 3:4)
We need to be careful when choosing our words because of their effect on our path in life as well as on ourselves.
"Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell." (James 3:5-6)
Our Father tells us that we cannot "tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison." (James 3:8)
It is only with Him that we are able to do anything, which includes taming our tongues. (John 15:5) By that, He means training our mouths to say what He wants us to say. He does not want us to say anything that is not of Him. However, we must submit our entire bodies to Him. That includes our mouths and our choice of words.
He also talks about the contradictory behavior of praising and cursing people with our mouths.
"With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be." (James 3:9-10)
Therefore, let us watch what we say and how we say it about our circumstances, our individual lives, and ourselves. Let us honor our Father with our mouths. Be careful in the words we choose to speak to other people as well.
Afterall, life and death are in the power of the tongue and those who love it will eat its fruit. (Proverbs 18:21)

God's Love
“Who will love me for me not for what I have done or what I will become…who will love me for me because nobody has shown me what love…what love really means…”
Those are just a few of the words to JJ Heller’s Christian music song, “What Love Really Means”. I really enjoy hearing and singing that song on occasion. The words just ring true to my heart…to the very depths of my soul and spirit. That is what love really means…God’s love.
I am sure that you have heard or read 1 Corinthians 13, known as the love chapter, in the Bible. Just in case, you have not or not in awhile, let me share a few verses with you now.
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)
Now, how great is that passage in God’s word describing Him and His love. God is love, and His love is pure, perfect, and complete. (1 John 4:16-18)
I have found myself comparing man’s love to God’s love more over the last couple of years. Unfortunately, man’s love or human love falls short much of the time. So much so that I came to a point in my life where I did not want anyone to tell me that they loved me especially certain people. To me, it was just words. There was not any real meaning behind those words, because I knew that their love was imperfect. I knew that they and their love would disappoint me as it had so many times before. That is only one reason that I now say…human love definitely pales in comparison to God’s love.
Oh…to love as God loves! Oh…to receive God’s kind of love from humans more often! How great would that be?
First, in order to give that kind of love, we need to “know and rely on the love God has for us.” (1 John 4:16) As His word tells us, “We love because He first loved us.” (1 John 4:19)
So, when we recognize and receive His love, we are more willing and able to give His love to others. “Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. This is how love is made complete…” (1 John 4:16b-17a)
John goes on to say that, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” (1 John 4:18)
Remember that ‘God is love.’ Where God is, there is no fear…only love…God’s love. His love is pure, perfect, and complete.
Therefore, let us choose and strive to give God’s love to others more often. We have already received His love, when He gave His one and only Son. (John 3:16a) In addition, His spirit and His love lives on the inside of us. We have the ability to reach deep down inside and love, as He loves us.
I know that it may be hard at times. There are people who make it difficult for one reason or another. Perhaps also, we have not received His kind of love from humans as often as we would like or need to up until now. However, with His help, we can do anything.
In God’s word, it says that we cannot love Him without loving other humans. That includes our brothers and sisters. (1 John 4:20-21) As we choose to give His kind of love away, we will receive that kind of love back from others.
We have first received His love, so we need to give His love away as well.

Sleeping with the Enemy
Sleeping with the Enemy was a movie back in the early 90's which starred Julia Roberts as the leading lady and Patrick Bergin as the leading man. In the movie, Roberts played the character of Laura who was the wife of Bergin's character Martin. Laura's husband, Martin, was a very controlling and abusive man. He was a very evil, wicked, and deceptive man.
The enemy is very evil, wicked, and deceptive in this world. He uses people and tells them lies about themselves and others. The devil deceives people into thinking they are still old creatures and belong with their old man’s spouse. In addition, Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. (2 Corinthians 11:14)
By outside appearances, a couple may appear to belong together in this world. However, that is not always the case. In this movie, it certainly was not the case either. Sometimes, the enemy’s work keeps people together even when they do not belong with one another.
It is so very important to renew our mind in God's word! (Romans 12:2) That way, we find out what He says about us and to us. It is the best way to find out who you are in Christ Jesus, which is also very important. Equally important to know...is whose you are in Christ Jesus.
Whose child are you? Whose spouse are you? Whom do you belong with in this world?
Jesus Christ died to give us so very much in this life. Not only did He die for our sins, but He also died for our healing whether emotional, mental, or physical. Additionally, Christ died for us to have an inheritance, provision, and spiritual blessings.
What is your inheritance? What is your blessing? What is your provision? Do you know? Do you care? Our Father God cares! His Son, Jesus, cares! He wants the best for you!
"When you believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of His glory." (Ephesians 1:13-14)
We have a guarantee by our Father God of our inheritance. That is huge! And...it is all for God's glory!
"God is not human, that He should lie, not a human being, that He should change his mind. Does He speak and then not act? Does He promise and not fulfill?" (Numbers 23:19)
Absolutely not! Our Father God is faithful! He is trustworthy!
There came a point in the movie where Roberts' character, Laura, made a plan of escape. She finally got out of the clutches of the mean, bad, and abusive husband. As a result, she was no longer sleeping with the enemy.
Are you sleeping with the enemy? In other words, are you in a carnal or fleshy relationship...one that is a result of the devil's lies? It can be a married, courting, or dating relationship. Or...are you in a relationship with the one that Jesus died to give you?
If not, have you made your plan of escape yet? Are you listening to the Lord? He has great plans for you! He also knows the right strategy…the best strategy!
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back from captivity." (Jeremiah 29:11-14)
He wants to help you get out of the clutches of the enemy. Please seek Him, listen to Him, and obey Him! (Matt 6:33)
"...your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven..." (Matt 6:10) Our Father wants His will to be done here in this world…just like in heaven. It can be heaven on earth.
However, He commands that we first "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind", and then, "Love your neighbor as yourself." (Luke 10:27) Are you really loving the Lord, your neighbor, and yourself?
Prayer:
"I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in His holy people, and His incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength He exerted when He raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under His feet and appointed Him to be head over everything for the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills everything in every way." (Ephesians 1:17-23)
"I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen." (Ephesians 3:16-21)

The enemy is very evil, wicked, and deceptive in this world. He uses people and tells them lies about themselves and others. The devil deceives people into thinking they are still old creatures and belong with their old man’s spouse. In addition, Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. (2 Corinthians 11:14)
By outside appearances, a couple may appear to belong together in this world. However, that is not always the case. In this movie, it certainly was not the case either. Sometimes, the enemy’s work keeps people together even when they do not belong with one another.
It is so very important to renew our mind in God's word! (Romans 12:2) That way, we find out what He says about us and to us. It is the best way to find out who you are in Christ Jesus, which is also very important. Equally important to know...is whose you are in Christ Jesus.
Whose child are you? Whose spouse are you? Whom do you belong with in this world?
Jesus Christ died to give us so very much in this life. Not only did He die for our sins, but He also died for our healing whether emotional, mental, or physical. Additionally, Christ died for us to have an inheritance, provision, and spiritual blessings.
What is your inheritance? What is your blessing? What is your provision? Do you know? Do you care? Our Father God cares! His Son, Jesus, cares! He wants the best for you!
"When you believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of His glory." (Ephesians 1:13-14)
We have a guarantee by our Father God of our inheritance. That is huge! And...it is all for God's glory!
"God is not human, that He should lie, not a human being, that He should change his mind. Does He speak and then not act? Does He promise and not fulfill?" (Numbers 23:19)
Absolutely not! Our Father God is faithful! He is trustworthy!
There came a point in the movie where Roberts' character, Laura, made a plan of escape. She finally got out of the clutches of the mean, bad, and abusive husband. As a result, she was no longer sleeping with the enemy.
Are you sleeping with the enemy? In other words, are you in a carnal or fleshy relationship...one that is a result of the devil's lies? It can be a married, courting, or dating relationship. Or...are you in a relationship with the one that Jesus died to give you?
If not, have you made your plan of escape yet? Are you listening to the Lord? He has great plans for you! He also knows the right strategy…the best strategy!
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back from captivity." (Jeremiah 29:11-14)
He wants to help you get out of the clutches of the enemy. Please seek Him, listen to Him, and obey Him! (Matt 6:33)
"...your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven..." (Matt 6:10) Our Father wants His will to be done here in this world…just like in heaven. It can be heaven on earth.

Choices
Have you ever thought about your choices? God has given us free will to make choices. There are good choices and bad choices, right choices and wrong choices, and life and death choices.
Throughout God's word, our Father instructs us on making choices.
First, our choices begin with our thoughts in our minds. Before making any decisions, please make sure your thoughts line up with His word to you.
"The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace." (Romans 8:6)
Do your thoughts bring you comfort and peace? Does your current decision bring you life? A "life" decision will give you peace. If a decision does not give you peace, then it is the wrong choice for you. It is also considered a "death" decision. It is the exact opposite of a "life" decision. You will not experience peace with a "death" decision. There will be discomfort, unrest, or uneasiness about your decision.
Which choice are you thinking about now? What decision are you getting ready to make soon?
Our Father reminds us that He has "...set before you [us] today life and prosperity, death and destruction." (Deut 30:15)
Even though, our Father has given us free will to make our own decisions. He does want to help us with them. We have to cooperate with Him though.
"For I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in obedience to him, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws..." (Deut 30:16a)
We have to make the decision to love and obey Him. He tells us "...then you will live and increase, and the LORD your God will bless you in the land...." (Deut 30:16b)
In His word, our Father often talks about life and death. He says "...that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses." (Deut 30:19a)
He encourages us to, "...choose life, so that you and your children may live..." (Deut 30:19b)
As any earthly Dad wants from their children, our Heavenly Father wants us to love Him. However, that is also a choice.
"...and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and He will give you many years in the land...." (Deut 30:20)
Our Father loves us so much! He only wants the best for us. He wants to help us make the right decisions for our lives, but it is still our choice. However, He does give us these same two choices in every decision every day of our lives.
"This is what the LORD says: See, I am setting before you the way of life and the way of death." (Jeremiah 21:8)
He encourages us to "Choose life and not death!" (2 Kings 18:32)
His word also tells us, "Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to Him as an instrument of righteousness." (Romans 6:13) It is also a choice though.
In addition, our Father wants us to choose to help our brothers and sisters in Christ. Afterall, we each have special gifts from our Father to work together for His purpose. He sometimes gives us wisdom or knowledge to know something in order to lovingly speak the truth to them or forewarn them about something.
“If you see any brother or sister commit a sin that does not lead to death, you should pray and God will give them life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that you should pray about that. All wrongdoing is sin, and there is sin that does not lead to death.” (1 John 5:16-17)
Be on guard at all times for the enemy. (Ephesians 6:11) Be prepared to speak the truth in love to anyone at any time. (Ephesians 4:15) Pray without ceasing for yourself and others. (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
With each decision you make, it is either one of life or one of death. Please think and pray about each decision ahead of time. In addition, choose wisely. If you need wisdom to make a decision, our Father will help you. Just ask Him for the wisdom to make the right decision for you. (James 1:5)
Special note:
The most important decision is one for eternity. Choose today whom you will serve whether it is the devil or God. With the prince of darkness, there is physical and spiritual death. (Hebrews 2:14) With God, there is life and peace here and forevermore. (John 3:16, 3:36, 6:33, 17:3; Romans 6:23, 1 John 5:12) Please make the right decision and choose life for yourself. It really is a matter of life and death!

To Forgive or Not to Forgive...
In Shakespeare's production of Hamlet, the main character Hamlet was struggling with a question about life. He was thinking, pondering, and questioning his own existence after going through a lot. In Act 3 and Scene 1, he began the monologue with this famous line..."To be, or not to be: that is the question..."
However, I believe that ‘To forgive or not to forgive...that is the most truthful question!’ It does not take a lot of consideration to come up with this answer.
When we go to God's word, we find the most truthful answer. Of course, that is to forgive!
"For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins." (Matt 6:14-15)
Then Jesus said to her, "Your sins are forgiven." (Luke 7:48)
Just as Jesus chose to forgive the sinful woman of her sins, we are to choose to forgive someone for any perceived wrongdoing against us. At first, you may not feel like forgiving the person. However, as they said in the old Nike commercial, “Just Do It!”
Often, it is a daily choice too especially if the pain went down deep into your heart. Keep choosing to forgive the person. With the Lord’s help, eventually, you will actually feel it as well.
"Who is this who even forgives sins?" (Luke 7:49)
Jesus! He is the only one who can really help us to forgive people. Please allow Him to work in and through you. With His help in time, you will forgive as the Lord has also forgiven you.

Where is Your Treasure?
"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Matthew 6:21, NKJV)
Where is your treasure? Where is your heart?
Are you more interested in people or possessions? Are you available for people in their time of need? Are you living superficially in this life? Do you want to have and keep all of the material things of this world? Which means more to you...people or things?
"but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal." (Matthew 6:20, NKJV)
“...For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4:18, NKJV)
First, God desires for us to love Him! (See Mark 12:30) Then, love one another! (See John 13:34-35) Do you love people? Are you showing love to them?
How do you love others? How do you show love to them? Well, one way is to imitate the Father (See Ephesians 5:1). Also, walk in love as Jesus Christ did and gave Himself for us (See Ephesians 5:2).
Are you walking in love? Are you imitating Jesus Christ? Jesus gave of Himself! He gave people His time and other resources. He taught them lessons. He listened to them. He shared with them. He endured hardships! He suffered for righteousness' sake! Ultimately, He laid down His life for everyone (See 1 John 3:16)!
Which means more to you...people or material possessions like money?
"No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money." (Matthew 6:24, NIV)
If you had a choice of helping a person financially or otherwise, what would you do? Would you keep the money or other material possessions for yourself? Would you help the person? Which is more important to you? Which do you really love?
God does not bless people with His resources in order to be selfish, self-centered, greedy, or hoarders. He has freely given, so we should freely give too (See Proverbs 11:24). He also loves a cheerful giver (See 2 Corinthians 9:7).
Our Father asks us, "If anyone has this world's goods and sees his brother in need but shuts off his compassion from him—how can God's love reside in him?" (1 John 3:17, HCSB)
Later, His instruction, "Little children, we must not love in word or speech, but in deed and truth; that is how we will know we are of the truth, and will convince our hearts in His presence, because if our hearts condemn us, God is greater than our hearts and knows all things." (1 John 3:18-20, HCSB)
What will you do the next time someone needs a helping hand? Will you deny their request? Will you walk away? On the other hand, will you show the love of the Father? Will you show the love of Jesus Christ?
Afterall, the righteous are never forsaken and God's children are never begging for bread. (See Psalm 37:25) For God feeds, clothes, and provides for all of our needs. (See Matthew 6:25-33) Therefore, should not we do the same? If we are really imitating Him, should not we also do for others? Let us actually show His love to others in obedience to Him and from our hearts.

“Who do you say I am?"
"Who do the crowds say I am?" (See Luke 9:18)
"But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?" (See Luke 9:20)
Jesus posed a few questions that day to his disciples. One particular question stands out though. He asked his disciple, Peter…
"Who do you say I am?"
It is a very important question too! Have you ever thought about it?
"Who do you say I am?"
Just think, consider, and ponder that question for a minute.
Who do others say you are? Who do you say you are? Who does Jesus Christ say you are? Most importantly, who does your Heavenly Father say you are?
You may say…Who cares what other people say? Correct? Well, that is the way it should be in this world. However, that is not always the case.
Many people care what other people think or say. It is human nature. However, God wants us to care less about what people in this world think or say and care more about what He thinks and says about us.
Admittedly, it is hard though, when you are bombarded with all kinds of audio and video in this world that sends out messages to the contrary. All of the media with its advertisements of what you should look like physically, what you should wear, what you should think, what you should say…
Unfortunately, society plays a huge part in us and in our lives. However, God wants us as believers to be in this world but not of this world (See John 15:19, 17:16; 1 John 2:15). That in itself is difficult at times unless you totally isolate yourself from the world. That, of course, is not very possible.
Even if it was possible, it is not good to be isolated from one another for very long. After all, God tells us not to forsake the assembling as some do. We, as His children, need each other. We are not made to be separate from each other. We are all part of the body of Christ. In order to properly work together, we are dependent on one another (See 1 Corinthians 12:12-27).
That is only one reason that it is so important to renew your mind is God’s word (See Romans 12:2).

"Where are you?"
But the LORD God called to the man, "Where are you?" (Genesis 3:9)
God asked this question of the first man, Adam. Of course, He already knew the answer to the question. For God, it really was a rhetorical question. Afterall, God is all-knowing!
However, He asked Adam this question in order for him to think about the answer. It was to help Adam to acknowledge his physical location. It was also to assist Adam in seeing and knowing his sin.
He [Adam] answered, "I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid."
And He [God] said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?"
Since the beginning of time, man has pointed the finger or blamed another person for his predicament.
The man said, "The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it."
Then the LORD God said to the woman, "What is this you have done?"
The woman said, "The serpent deceived me, and I ate." (Genesis 3:10-13)
God has given every man his own will to make his own choices whether good or bad. Of course, also since the creation of humankind, there have been consequences of making our own choices without God’s leadership and guidance.
"For whatever a man sows he will also reap, because the one who sows to his flesh will reap corruption from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit." (Galatians 6:7-8)
Therefore, the next time that God asks you this question, “Where are you?” Just be honest with Him and yourself! Acknowledge your location whether physical, spiritual, emotional, mental, or otherwise. Realize that He loves you, and He wants to help you! Please allow Him to assist you in whatever way and in whatever area of your life! He really does love you, and He wants the best for you!

God asked this question of the first man, Adam. Of course, He already knew the answer to the question. For God, it really was a rhetorical question. Afterall, God is all-knowing!
However, He asked Adam this question in order for him to think about the answer. It was to help Adam to acknowledge his physical location. It was also to assist Adam in seeing and knowing his sin.
He [Adam] answered, "I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid."
And He [God] said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?"
Since the beginning of time, man has pointed the finger or blamed another person for his predicament.
